Who are DOSA Buddies?

DOSA Buddies are caregivers at Camp I Am Special, Camp Promise, and Camp Care. Our completely volunteer buddy staff is made up of high school and college students who selflessly give of their time to serve as a buddy for the entire camp session. Each buddy is responsible for one and only one camper during the week.

Buddies are expected to be selfless, dedicated, compassionate, energetic, and, of course, FUN.

How do I become a DOSA Buddy?

Simply put. Ask and you shall receive.

If you're a high school or college student, you are eligible to apply to become a buddy at Camp I Am Special, Camp Promise, and Camp Care. You can request a buddy application in one of the following manners:

What kind of training does a DOSA Buddy recieve?

To become a DOSA Buddy you must undergo an extensive training program that covers the following areas:

• Safety and Security
• Seizure Protocol
• Swimming Protocol
• Adaptive Equipment
• Lifting and Transferring
• Positioning
